Opportunity

 

The Sr. Consultant, Colleague Relations serves as the pinnacle of expertise in all matters related to colleague relations within the University. They are tasked with managing, resolving, and meticulously documenting complex colleague relations inquiries and issues, including performance concerns, behavior issues, interpersonal conflicts, disputes, and crisis/emergency/safety situations. Additionally, they will lead investigations into colleague complaints, ensuring thoroughness and impartiality. Moreover, they will act as a strategic liaison and relationship manager for HR Business Partners.

 

Responsibilities:

 

  • Provide strategic direction and leadership in effectively addressing complex colleague relations inquiries and issues, ensuring compliance with company policies, procedures, and federal/state laws.
  • Offer expert consultation and resolution for colleague relations matters spanning all organizational levels, from front-line non-exempt employees to senior executives.
  • Provide consistent guidance and support to managers in handling complex colleague issues, including disciplinary actions, documentation, and preparation for crucial conversations.
  • Coach and support both managers and employees in resolving interpersonal conflicts, disputes, and complaints.
  • Conduct and meticulously document thorough and impartial investigations following established protocols.
  • Ensure accurate documentation of inquiries, actions, and outcomes in Salesforce.
  • Perform regular analysis and review of case data to identify trends and significant issues, sharing findings with HR business partners.
  • Facilitate training sessions as necessary to support the colleague relations strategy and address emerging concerns.

 

Qualifications:

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources or a related field. J.D. preferred.
  • 5+ years of extensive experience in colleague relations.
  • Experience working in highly regulated industry or call center environment preferred.
  • Expert knowledge and understanding of federal and state employment laws and regulations, mitigating risks for the organization.
  • Exceptional consultative, listening, and communication skills, with the ability to influence and persuade effectively.
  • Proven track record in coaching managers on addressing performance issues, behavior concerns, and policy violations.
  • Ability to conduct formal investigations at all organizational levels and provide recommendations to senior leaders.
  • Demonstrated capability to manage sensitive and confidential situations with professionalism and discretion.
  • Strong conflict resolution and problem-solving abilities.
  • Showcase proficiency in research, data analysis, and sound judgment in decision-making.
  • Ability to establish credibility and build trust in virtual environments.
  • Excellent relationship management skills with a collaborative approach.
  • Possess an enterprise mindset and the ability to provide consistent guidance across various lines of business.
  • Strong organizational skills with the capability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
  • Compensation Range: 100,000 -115,000
  • This position may be bonus eligible.
