HR/UR - BENEFITS ANALYST

Opportunity

 

  • Under the supervision of the Manager, Benefits the role will provide analytical and technical level support to the benefits function
  • Perform the daily administration of organization-wide benefit programs
  • Partner with fellow HR and University Relations colleagues to ensure a positive colleague experience within the benefits and wellness space

 

  

Responsibilities

 

Benefits Administration (70%)

 

  • Responsible for day-to-day administration of organization-wide benefit programs, including working with vendors, brokers, and handling escalated issues from colleagues
  • Assist with annual benefits open enrollment (OE) process
  • Compiles data, reports, and statistical information in support of benefit programs
  • Maintains benefit files on SharePoint/HRIS. Works closely with Payroll and HRIS on benefit related matters
  • Assist with benefit audits to ensure compliance
  • Fund HSA contributions each pay period
  • Assist with COBRA and leave administration
  • Assist with creating and implementing a new benefits education program for all DeVry colleagues
  • Completes other duties as assigned

 

Retirement Plans Administration (30%)

 

  • Assist with administration of 40l(k) plans
  • Assist with funding 401(k) plan contributions
  • Assist with preparing reports and forms to ensure compliance with the Employee Retirement Income and Security Act (ERISA), which includes preparation of 5500’s and summary annual reports.  Also gathers the data required for the vendors to prepare annual non-discrimination testing; analyzes results for accuracy and assists in other projects, if needed.

 

Qualifications

 

  • Bachelor's degree in related discipline required
  • 1 to 2 years experience in benefits required
  • Excellent computer skills including Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint required.
  • Knowledge of applicable leave and accommodation laws including the FMLA, ADA, and state and local laws preferred
  • Must possess excellent organizational, customer service, verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to multitask, work independently and within a fast-paced team environment is critical
  • Must possess high attention to detail
  • Must have the ability to prioritize work and follow up  
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality in all matters related to employee compensation and benefits
  • General knowledge of HR and benefit practices
