DeVry University’s College of Engineering & Information Sciences offers certificate and degree programs focused on innovation and practical application to help students begin their careers or prepare for professional positions with greater responsibility and reward. Curricula are developed with insight from industry experts who serve on our national advisory committee and include intensive practical and applied assignments employing the latest equipment and technologies, are taught by faculty with real-world experience.

 

This position is a part-time faculty (Visiting Professor) in the computer science domain.

 

Responsibilities

 

• Course delivery for eight weeks in hybrid modality throughout Chicagoland campuses in the evenings.

• Provide students with an approved DeVry University syllabus that follows a template which includes the terminal course objectives.

• Organize, prepare, and regularly revise and update all course materials.

• Use appropriate technological options for online technologies and course-related software, including websites, e-mail, and online discussions for preparing the course and making it accessible to students.

• Model effective oral and written communications that engage the students, provide clarity, and improve student learning.

• Set clear expectations for the course by publishing course terminal objectives, assignment/examinations dates, and weight the distribution of various evaluation categories.

• Ensure that the content and level of material included on exams correspond to the course terminal objectives.

• Demonstrate consistency and fairness in the preparation and grading of exams, and provide timely feedback to students.

• Completes other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

 

• Master’s Degree in computer science or related domain/field (with 18 graduate hours in the subject being taught for undergraduate teaching)

• Qualifying credentials must be awarded by an institution accredited by an agency recognized by the U.S. Department of Education or the Council for Higher Education Administration, or by an international institution determined to hold equivalent accreditation.

• Requisite subject matter expertise and outstanding communication skills.
